Lately, three Democrats announced that they would compete in the state’s 2022 gubernatorial election. One of them, physician Jason Martin, announced his plan from Nashville General Hospital after establishing a new exploratory committee. The other gubernatorial candidate is Casey Nicholson, the Cumberland Presbyterian Church’s Ministry Council member. When announcing their electoral campaigns, Nicholson and Martin highlighted coronavirus disease and the response of incumbent Republican Governor Bill Lee to the pandemic.

Martin made a lament about the virus-related death count in the US State of Tennessee. Martin said that the death count did not need to be thus when he was around the hospital building in which he taught students and treated patients. Martin said that if Tennessee had a stronger set of leaders, then the death count would have been less.

Martin is working at a Sumner County hospital and treats people with coronavirus disease there. The child of one of his former patients, who passed away due to the disease, introduced him at the recent event related to the gubernatorial race.

Any Democrat nominee will have a poor chance of winning as Governor Lee has the advantage of the state’s reliably GOP voters and a healthy financial account when moving toward reelection. Martin has raised a whopping $100,000 after the establishment of the committee, most of which came from his loved ones.

Nicholson has already been part of politics, as he competed unsuccessfully for a seat in the Tennessee House and worked as the head of the Democratic Party in Greenhouse. Nicholson is competing in the state’s race as a response to the incumbent governor’s mishandling of this epidemic. As per a press release, Nicholson was ordained 16 years ago as well as worked in East Tennessee and Mississippi churches before he started his medical counseling office. Nicholson stated that, in the capacity of a local church organization’s leader, he has aided in drafting coronavirus guidelines for congregations.

Nicholson believes that he is a legitimate gubernatorial candidate and contender for the role. As for Nicholson, it is his church background that makes him eligible to perform the job. He is confident that Tennessee’s public would like to vote in favor of him in 2022 when they become familiar with him. Nicholson also stated that he is in the gubernatorial race to win it. Another Democratic Party Member, Carnita Atwater from Memphis City, is also in this race.
