Local music artist dies, Nashville News

The hip-hop music scene of Nashville is grieving the death of Ross Norton. Also known as kidDEAD, Norton was a beloved MC, concert performer and music video director. The reason for the death of the 36-year-old has not been made public as yet.

There is much attention on the music scene of the US city. You could not say so about 10 years before, even as the important mass of energy and talent were increasing to comparable levels back then. There was an interesting underground rap music scene at Nashville’s Cafe Raco. When the underground music scene gradually diminished, Norton played a part in the growth and evolution of the next stage with a display known as Makin’ Moves at Nashville’s venue The End.

Norton aided music professionals in building strong connections with other creative people around the city. Tributes came pouring in for Norton through social media. In many of those tributes, local MCs thanked him for aiding them in booking their first Nashville show.

Norton nurtured the music scene through his filmmaking skills as well. Norton created a video piece for his fellow rapper and friend Nathan Conrad’s 2018 track entitled ‘Spaghetti’. It is among the best productions of Norton. Conrad took to Facebook to pay a tribute to his close pal Norton, who also wrote songs with him for the audience to enjoy with urgency. In his Facebook tribute, Conrad, also known as Spoken Nerd, wrote that Norton’s music would also be a part of him.

Norton released many of his musical creations under the moniker kidDEAD that represent the immense compassion and passion his friends talked about after his death. Norton had the skill to form relationships with producers that aided him in creating a basis for intense creations, such as ‘Patrick Swayze’ to name one. Patrick Swayze is a song reframing the exciting image of narcotics that informed much about rap from Norton’s viewpoint. For your information, Norton struggled with substance use order. The insightful, incisive and grooving tracks such as The Poison Tree and Angel Dust demonstrate that Norton’s bright impact has not diminished one bit.

Close friends celebrated the unique life of Norton on August 13, 2021, in a semi-private event. They kept it semi-private, considering the possible impact of the new Delta strain of coronavirus. As of writing this, there has been no announcement of a similar public event.
